Interior painting that still looks right in five years

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors and stairwells — prepped, primed and finished by the same crew from the first day to the last.

Why interior paint fails early

Almost never the paint. Interior repaints fail because someone rolled straight over a glossy trim, skipped the caulk on a moving joint, or painted over a bathroom ceiling that still had a moisture problem behind it. Within a year you get peeling at the baseboards, hairline cracks reopening at the drywall seams, and a sheen difference wherever a patch was not primed. All of that is prep, and all of it is avoidable.

What we actually do before opening a can

Furniture centred and covered, floors papered and taped, fixtures and hardware removed rather than cut around. Nail pops set and patched, cracks opened and filled properly instead of skimmed, glossy surfaces scuff-sanded so the new coat has something to hold. Every patch gets spot-primed — that is the step that stops a wall from drying with a shadow where the repair was.

Colour, sheen and living with it

A colour consultation comes with every quote. Sheen matters as much as colour indoors: flat hides wall imperfection but will not survive a hallway with kids, and a high gloss on old trim advertises every ripple in the wood. We use low-VOC paints throughout, so the house is usable the same evening rather than smelling of solvent for a week.

How long you lose the room

A single room is usually one day. A whole-home interior in an average Orange County tract home runs three to five days depending on ceiling height and how much trim there is. You get a finish date in writing before we start, and the house goes back to normal each evening — beds usable, kitchen usable, nothing left in the middle of the floor overnight.

Common questions

Do we need to move out?
No. We work room by room and put the house back each evening. Most clients stay through the whole job.
Do you move furniture?
Yes. We centre and cover everything in the room. Anything fragile or genuinely heavy we would rather you point out first so we can plan it.
Is the paint safe around kids and pets?
We use low-VOC products as standard. There is a light odour on the day and it is gone by the next morning with normal ventilation.
